so i flew in from seoul and was amazed by the relative brevity of the flight. i completely forgot the procedure of return. no, you do not need a visa stamped on your passport - you're one of those "citizens". a short time later, i get my bags from the carousel and then wander to a nearby cafe, hoping to use free wi-fi. my battery being dead, i eventually get a phone card and call up Cat. as of now, i'm still not fully comprehending my surroundings. the passengers on the plane weirded me out enough and there was a good chunk of japanese on board. in any case, Cat picked me up and on goes my seattle adventures.
poor Cat found out that she had to move out by the end of the month on top of all the stuff she already had on her plate...fortunately, her friends were there to help her out and Cat's friend's truck came in very handy. it was a very easy move, and i'm glad that i could help. Cat showed me lots of different places in seattle! i became very fond of her neighborhood (fremont) due to its artsy laidback atmosphere. downtown has this great library where i ended up wandering about lots...of course, Cat took me to see the pike place market...such fun!
after the market, Cat took me across the street to see the original Starbucks in all its glory...sure is different from the usual shops you see elsewhere. i took a pic of the original logo with the half-naked mermaid^^
as soon as we walked inside, we found ourselves in the midst of a large group of koreans doing a coffee tasting thing from a korean starbucks employee. comforting internal giggle bubbles. whoo!
feeling hungry, Cat and i had some very tasty gyros in this colorful restaurant nearby...and a color-riffic older woman also came in style...Cat, you're gonna have to send me your pics!
went to a beach...i love beaches so much! and later, i did some of my own wanderings and took many many pictures of the random fremont art and the great sculpture garden...here are a few pics:
seattle has this "free thursday" event every last thursday of the month that allows you to wander about places like museums or galleries and such for free. i went to the newly renovated (i was told) SAM [where.are.you?] and walked about after doing the underground tour - also extremely entertaining. headed to Cat's friends' opening party for their new business, Office Nomads, and had a fun time mingling with the assortment of people at the event.
And the next day, Cat and i went our separate ways at the airport...thanks for showing and sharing your home, Cat! I will definitely be going back for a repeat visit.

I love the Starbucks logo!!! There's a Starbucks logo ripoff hoodie at that store that I bought the hoodie with Snow White all over it. But it doesn't say starbucks, it says "original mermaid" or something like that.
I just might have to go buy it!
